about

"Nocturne in B minor" is a track about short nights, worrying too much and sleep deprivation. Starting with dreamy and meditative classical influences, and being awakened by contrasting industrial beats and electronical sounds.

The date of release (June 14) is reinforcing this theme. It will be the shortest and brightest night of the year, as there'll be a 'super full moon' visible and it's the middle of June. Turning this track into a Midsummer Night's Dream.

“The subject of this track is very meta, as it has its origin in the hot summer of 2018. High temperatures, a new house with renovations, ánd the approaching release of our first album. As it was quite a complex piece of music to find the right structure, it kept me awake for many nights during the past years.”
- Tom Soetaert

Both the title and the artwork refer to the world of classical composers, more specifically Chopin’s Nocturnes, which have always been a big influence on OUTER’s music.

Brussels-based animator Bert Juliaan Vercruysse used images shot in Norway, Iceland and Czech Republic to make 8 video shorts.

OUTER. Intimate, soothing and mesmerizing. Remote places and silent landscapes like Northern Iceland were the background for songwriting, recordings and visuals. "Sunday night music" might be the most accurate description.
